The 7-point outbound list quality checklist

Before you hit send on a single email, run your list through this checklist. It's the difference between 2% reply rates and 12%.

Why list quality beats copy

We've audited hundreds of outbound programs and the pattern is the same: teams obsess over subject lines while sending to lists riddled with role accounts, dead domains, and prospects who left the company eight months ago.

The checklist

  • Verify every email at the SMTP layer, not just syntax
  • Strip role-based addresses (info@, sales@, hello@)
  • Confirm the company still has an active website and MX records
  • Cross-check job title against LinkedIn within the last 90 days
  • Remove anyone who unsubscribed from any prior campaign
  • Cap sends per domain to avoid tripping spam filters
  • Segment by industry so your copy can stay specific

A clean list of 500 beats a dirty list of 5,000 every single time.
